Giving to the Community

We donate 1% of all sales to support Ferguson's Earn-a-Bike program. This program gives 8 to 15 year old young people the opportunity to earn a bike, helmet, lock, and light while taking a 6 week course on basic bike maintenance and safe riding skills.

The program is a partnership between St. Louis Bicycle Works, the Ferguson Youth Initiative (FYI), and our shop:

  • St. Louis Bicycle Works (BikeWorks) has been conducting Earn-a-Bike classes in St. Louis for 20+ years. A few years ago they partnered with us to bring these classes to Ferguson. BikeWorks sends an instructor each week to teach the course, and provides the bikes, helmets, locks, and lights.
  • The Ferguson Youth Initiative (FYI) is a combined effort involving Ferguson youth, officials, residents and educators to find ways to help better serve the young people of our community.

Ready Readers

Ready Readers is a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring preschool age children from low-income communities to LOVE books! It does this by recruiting and training volunteer readers who go into local preschools every week and read to the kids.

We often run promotions to generate donations to Ready Readers. Check out their website to learn more about them and also see if we have any special promotions running with them.

Ready Readers has a special place in my heart because I have been a volunteer reader with Ready Readers for 9 years now. My hope is that my reading has given many young people the desire to learn how to read when they get to school.
